GGGears is theoretically designed to run on all POSIX compatible operating systems. However, due to its dependency on other pieces of software, a correct setup in an arbitrary environment could be relatively complicated. For the operative system Ubuntu 10.04 the installation procedure of GGGears along with its appropriately pre-configured dependencies is completely automated through a software repository. In this case, the installation procedure consists in the following two steps:

  1. Add the corresponding repository to the software sources of your system by executing the following two commands:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gggears/main
    sudo apt-get update

  2. Install GGGears and its dependencies by executing the command:

    sudo apt-get install gggears

After the installation a launcher of GGGears can be found under the "Applications" menu and the category "Science". Alternatively, GGGears can also be launched in a terminal via the command:

For the visualization of the results generated by GGGears It is recommended to install the post-processor PARAVIEW as well. It can be installed by executing the command:

sudo apt-get install paraview

PARAVIEW can be launched by running:
